Smithfield? Home?
Smithfield’s cute, but it’s not UCB. Not the way McManus is. Want to go someplace after class? Sure, go to Smithfield. But anything tied into the traditions of the theater, you really should only be at McManus.
Preach.
Our history is at McManus. Go try things that are new and more convenient, but UCB has a home and a family of barkeeps that loves it and everybody goes home for the big things.
Also, now that the Training Center is moving, Smithfield won’t be quite as convenient. I predict a shift to yet another bar up there that’s willing to give us drink specials. If it isn’t McManus, it could be anybody.
McManus is our rock.
I will go there from time to time, but man, spending tons of time at McManus is like willingly hanging out at Barth’s Burgers.
I care deeply about comedy, the UCB community, and the work we produce, but I’m also an almost 30-year-old person who works hard to avoid getting diarrhea.
